As of 8:15pm CST 02/28/2025 (or 28/02/2025 for those across the pond) DBF is live!
Thank goodness!
This was a long and difficult two year journey. Paul, Tom and I pitched this idea to WRG over two and half years ago. Our goals were to produce a newer version of the DBX rules that would incorporate graphics and a more direct and simplified style of writing that would suite newer gamers. We also wanted to introduce new design elements that could be used in future versions of WRG rules. Most importantly, we wanted to have Sue and Phil's blessings on this.
We have accomplished our goal.
This has been to the most part due to the work of Paul Murgatroyd and Tom Thomas. They have labored (laboured"?) tirelessly in writing, playtesting, and editing the DBF rules so that I can bask in the glory. Ahem.
This is not to discount the work of WRG, who supported us apropos of nothing...
Well, they did know Paul, who lives in the neighborhood (at least to those of us in the states). Tom did work quite closely with Phil on DBM/MM. My relationship with the Barkers was less. I did beat Sue in a DBA game at Historicon- by luck mind you- and I did have quite an extended conversation with Phil concerning WRG Modern Rules after a seminar. Tom and I may have contributed a bit to DBA 3 as well.
That being said, Thanks to all of them for supporting and trusting us!
It has been quite a journey.
In the following days I will post a bit more on our motivations and visions for the future, as well as our views of the past. (Hint! Be very frightened! I like Phil's writing style.)
