Rules Clarifications and Updates

Moving Into Threat Zones.
It is the Blue player’s bound. Blue Blade (A) would like to move to contact Red Spear (X), which is in frontal contact with Blue Cavalry (D), and ‘hard flank’ this element, as shown. This is a legal move, as although it enters the TZ of Red Bow (Y), it is advancing into or toward front edge contact with the enemy generating the TZ.

Threat Zone Limitations.
It is the Blue player’s bound. Blue Cavalry (C) would like to move with Blue Pikes (A & B), which are both within the respective TZ’s of Red Spears (X & Y). However, it is only in the TZ of Red Spear (Z), and thus it’s options are: to turn to face Spear Z; move into contact with Spear Z; move directly backwards or not move at all.

Unable to Conform.
The group of Red Spears (X & Y) have moved forward and contacted Blue Blade (B). Blade (B) is a single element and must conform to the contacting group, but it unable to conform to either element of the group, due to lack of space. The Spear group is also unable to conform and so the Blade (B) remains in place and fights as if overlapped on both flanks.

Group Contacting and Lining Up.
The group of Red Spears (X & Y) have moved forward and contacted the Blue Blade (A) with their front edge to front corner, which will cause the Blade (A) to conform and attempt to make full front edge contact with Spear (Y) (diagram A). However, the Blue Blade (B) blocks full conforming, so the Spear group will then slide sideways to allow full front edge to front edge conforming to take place (diagram B). Note that Blade (A) is in contact with Blade (B) and will be destroyed if it recoils in the subsequent close combat phase.

Ranged Combat.
Although Red Bow (Y) appears to have a number of targets, it cannot shoot at any of them. Blue Pike (D) cannot be shot at, as it is in close combat. Blue Pike (C) cannot be shot at, as it is providing rear support. Blue Cavalry (B) cannot be shot at, as no uncrossed lines from the shooting edge can trace a line at least ½BW wide on the target edge, without intersecting another element.

Interpenetration during Fleeing.
Blue Skirmishers (A & B) have both fled as a result of combat with Red Spears (X & Y). In both cases, the Skirmishers hit the line of Blue Spears. Skirmisher (A) can interpenetrate, as it starts the interpenetration section of the move at least partly lined up directly in front of the element to be passed through. It ends the move lined-up directly and exactly behind the Spear element that it is most aligned to. Skirmisher (B) cannot interpenetrate, as it is not at least partly lined up with the Spear, and so stops on contact.
Errata for the Rules!
Oh no! Our first errata. Sorry guys and girls, this one got missed in the final scramble to publish.

Here is the corrected ranged/spell combat table. A late formatting change left off a couple of troop types!

We just found this really odd addition in close combat modifiers table. No idea how this one slipped into the text. Well, it might have been me, though I will never own up to it! Fast Auxilia don't get a negative modifier in bad or dangerous going. Solid Auxilia get a -1. We deleted the word "Fast".
